Riley Dog is named after Riley (nickname: Roo - it was the sound of his howl), our chocolate lab, who died in late '99, hit by a train in the Rockies. He had never seen a train before. He was my wife's work companion for nine years (she's a biologist), protecting her from bears and lions. Together, they were also a famous pet therapy team, working with autistic kids and at hospitals. Original Riley Dog is a referenced url in Rebecca Blood's seminal Weblog Handbook. Get it.
